Window Regulator Repair in San Leandro and the East Bay
Windows that dropped into the door, won't go back up, or grind on the way. The glass is often fine; the mechanism that moves it isn't.
Signs the regulator is the problem
- The window fell down into the door and won't come back
- You hear the motor running but the glass doesn't move
- Grinding or clicking while the window travels
- The window comes up crooked or binds partway
- Nothing happens at all when you press the switch
What's involved
The door panel comes off and the regulator, and usually the motor with it, is replaced as an assembly. The glass is reattached to the new carrier and the travel is adjusted so the window seats square against the seal at the top.
Often paired with glass
Break-ins bend regulators as often as they break glass, and a window forced down by hand will strip the mechanism. If both need doing, they're done in the same visit, which costs less than treating them as two jobs.
How long it takes
Usually about an hour per door once we have the part. Drive right after.
If the window is stuck down
Tell us when you call. In many cases the glass can be secured in the raised position while the part is on order, so the car isn't sitting open overnight.
